Platonic Dialectic

George:
I absolutely believe it's better to know rich people than to be rich.

Asha:
Define rich.

George:
Enough money to buy a beach house, a lake house, a sail boat, a place in London, Paris, Rome.

Asha:
I guess you are assuming if you knew people with those things they would want to share them with you. Doesn't that make you a mooch?

George:
You probably should have asked me if I was assuming they would share before accusing me of mooching, but yes, I am assuming they will share, but I don't think they will consider me a mooch because I am a great conversationalist and I'll have enough money to buy food and wine and, you know, be a great guest.

Asha:
Why not just have the money to own those things directly?

George:
Because the upkeep on stuff like that is nuts and it takes more than money. You'd need a staff which costs even more money, and accountants, and lawyers. Too much hassle. I'd rather spend a lovely afternoon on a yacht sharing the champagne I bought and go home at the end of the day without a care in the world.

Asha:
Hmm, I still think that's mooching.
